Bhutan is a fantastic place to teach English.  In fact, the 2009 Happy Planet Index (HPI) rate Bhutan as #17 in terms of happiest places to live and in 2006 Business Week rated it the happiest country in Asia... not bad considering the UK rated 74th, Canada rated 89th and the USA rated 114th out of 143 countries rated for the Happy Planet Index.

Life in Bhutan is relatively simple and very peaceful.  People talk.  People walk.  People dance slowly and methodically with incredible emotion and belief.  People are kind.  There are few "creature comforts" in Bhutan.  Bhutanese people are not attached to their phones or ipods or laptops.  This move slower.  There often is no electricity or plumbing or internet but there is a greater balance to things and in particular, many people find that there is a greater balance to them... the tourists who come for 2 week excursions don't get the same experience as a teacher who becomes part of the culture.

There are about 700,000 people living in Bhutan and almost 50% of this population is under the age of 15.  As you can imagine, with a vast majority of the population so young, education is incredibly important.

Tiger's nests, the Himalayas, the wonderful people, and much more, make Bhutan an amazing place to teach English.
