The Politics of English as a Second Language - http://bit.ly/hxaS7x

"Before I came to teach English in Thailand I had considered many other countries. My friend at Stozier Library where I worked at FSU told me some amazing stories about his sojourn in Tokyo and inspired me to apply for a job with NOVA. Just as it was looking hopeful, NOVA, GEOS, and many other eikaiwas (franchise language schools) in Japan went out of business.

Shortly after that debacle, I went to volunteer at the Buhugu Initiative in a village in Uganda where my friend introduced the first public library and Internet . In the evenings I used that Internet connection to research ESL jobs around the world. That is when I first learned about American TESOL and decided to take their course and work in Bangkok at a vocational college. "
